JUEGOS RANCHEROS believes in protecting radical and free self-expression in the artwork that we showcase. However, it is the utmost priority to us that our attendees feel safe and that we create a safe space in which to experience the work we curate. If something or someone makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable at one of our events, no matter how minor it seems, you can report it to us.

Harassment of participants, staff, or volunteers at JUEGOS RANCHEROS events, both online and off, will not be tolerated, and anyone violating this policy at our events may be warned or expelled.

Harassment includes deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, photography or recording without permission, sustained disruption of the event, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, and offensive verbal comments or actions related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Please know that the JUEGOS RANCHEROS team view neither ignorance or intoxication as an excuse for unacceptable behavior. Individuals who have engaged in oppressive behaviors outside of JUEGOS RANCHEROS will be held accountable within it. Those with a history of sexual assault, abuse, or coercive or intimidating behaviors may not be permitted entry into our events.

JUEGOS RANCHEROS also accepts that we are not above our own policies, so please know all of the above applies to all members of our team in equal measure.

Anonymously report via online form

Any in-person conversations will be held in confidence. Any reports will be handled privately and will be acted upon with your safety in mind first. The safe space team is led by an individual, separate from the directors, who will receive reports privately. This person holds your safety in the utmost regard and, if necessary, will exclude members of the JUEGOS RANCHEROS team or volunteers from the enforcement proceedings.

If you file an anonymous report, JUEGOS RANCHEROS cannot follow up with you directly. However, we will fully investigate and take seriously all anonymous reports. In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith.

While we hope you feel empowered to voice concerns about incidents as and when they happen, we also welcome you to reach out to us to inform us of past harassment or incidents related to our events which made you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. These policies exist to foster an inclusive space that everyone can enjoy.

If anyone engages in harassing behavior, the JUEGOS RANCHEROS team will take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event. In the case of expulsion from a paid event, no refund will be awarded. Anyone who engages in sustained or repeated ‬unacceptable behavior may be‭ ‬permanently ‬banned‭ ‬from‭ ‬events‭.

The JUEGOS RANCHEROS team will help contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.

All reports, anonymous or otherwise, are investigated, discussed, and reviewed by the safe space team or the on-site organizers before action is taken. Actions and cases will never be discussed publicly.
