The sixth annual Fantastic Arcade has officially begun! JUEGOS RANCHEROS was responsible for curating all of the games and guests appearing at this year’s Arcade, and so below we’re presenting an exhaustive guide to all of the events happening this year.
As you likely have heard, JUEGOS RANCHEROS has curated six brand new games making their exclusive premiere at Fantastic Arcade. These original games — from the creators of beloved favorites like Desert Golfing, Nuclear Throne and more — each will be presented in their own custom arcade cabinets, playable for free throughout the festival.
Thanks to Humble Bundle, the games are also now available in a new pay-what-you-want bundle alongside Fantastic Arcade all-stars like Fez, Luftrausers, and Hotline Miami! You’ve got until October 1st to visit Humble Bundle and pick up all the games for as much as you’re able to give, with additional proceeds going to support the Able Gamers & Worldreader charities.
But Fantastic Arcade isn’t just about the games. We’ll also be presenting a stellar lineup of panels, tournaments and special events from Monday, September 28th through Thursday, October 1st. Each of these events are ALL-AGES AND FREE TO ATTEND, EVEN IF YOU AREN’T A FANTASTIC FEST BADGEHOLDER! Read on for the full daily guide to all of the panels, tournaments & other special events happening during Fantastic Arcade!
Not able to make it out to our sixth annual Fantastic Arcade, or so in love with the games you saw there that you want to host your own at home? Now you can! Presenting: the Fantastic Arcade Humble Weekly Bundle, a pay-what-you-want bundle of twelve games available for one week only until the end of Fantastic Arcade 2015.
In addition to former Fantastic Arcade favorites Fez, Hotline Miami, Luftrausers, No Brakes Valet, Mirrormoon EP & FRACT OSC, you can also get copies of the six games premiering exclusively at Fantastic Arcade 2015, from the creators of games like Desert Golfing, Nuclear Throne and many more!
JUEGOS RANCHEROS brought together this collection of amazing developers to create these original games for you, and thanks to the folks at Humble Bundle, we’re able to make them available to you at home, in addition to their custom-created cabinets at the Festival!
Below we’ve laid out information on all the exclusive games you can pick up in the bundle, in addition to the all-star games listed above.
We hope you’ll help support all of the devs that took part in this unique bundle — as well as the Able Gamers and Worldreader charities — and help us create more new games & bundles like these in the near future!
What better way to spend a Thursday night than playing three new & super amazing Austin-developed & -published videogames? Join us this Thursday, August 6th, at 7:00PM at Austin’s North Door, as JUEGOS RANCHEROS presents Tiger Style‘s Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon and two games published by Finji: Feist & Panoramical.
While all three games showcased on Thursday have been featured at JUEGOS RANCHEROS meetups and/or prior Fantastic Arcade lineups, all three are returning in actual, final, awesome form.
Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon — developed here in Austin by Tiger Style and being released for iOS & Steam on the same night as our meetup — is a game in which you play as a clever arachnid explorer, mastering your web crafting skills with a combination of action and planning as you solve each of Spider’s seven enigmatic puzzles.
Just released by Austin publisher Finji & developed by Switzerland’s Bits & Beasts, Feist is a lush and visually striking action-packed game in which you outwit a sprawling forest full of secret danger and fierce creatures.
And finally, first featured as a surprise addition to Fantastic Arcade 2012, Fernando Ramallo & David Kanaga’s Panoramical is just on the cusp of its final release, co-presented by Finji & Polytron. We’ll be debuting this latest version of the interactive musical landscape anthology, in which you immerse yourself in a series of synaesthetic alien vistas, like an ambient disco-god controlling your own tiny universe.
All of the games will be playable Thursday, August 6th, at 7:00PM at North Door, 501 Brushy Street, Austin, TX 78702. The show is free and open to all the public, so come join us as we drink, play and meet the people changing the way we think about games!
Hey developers: is there a game you’re considering submitting for this year’s Fantastic Arcade? Here’s your two-week warning that submissions will be closing July 13th, so get yours in sooner than later!
The 2015 edition of Fantastic Arcade will again take place at Austin’s South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse & Highball lounge, this time during the second week (from September 28th through October 1st) of the accompanying Fantastic Fest film festival.
Shortly after the July 13th deadline, members of JUEGOS RANCHEROS will begin selecting games to showcase during Fantastic Arcade from your submissions. All of the games selected will be accessible to both festival attendees and the general public, for free, in a casual atmosphere of camaraderie and love for games.
If you’d like to submit a game, you can do so by accessing this form before July 13th. We look forward to playing all of your submissions, and especially to seeing you all in September for this year’s Arcade!

Don’t like who you’ve been paired with? Suddenly reached a dealbreaking impasse about jazz? Hang in there, swig another drink, and a new date will be just around the corner.
